It’s easy to see “We’re not in Kansas anymore.” It’s as if a powerful and devastating tornado has invaded our homes to carry us away to a strange and unknown place. In the middle of the uncertainty we are left longing for a better place, somewhere over the rainbow.
Our culture is swirling like a tornado trying to persuade us that substance use is common place without consequences. Daily our young people are pulled in competing directions trying to direct their judgement. In our own community students are pressured by vaping, marijuana, and alcohol. However, like Dorothy in the famed Wizard of Oz, what if the key was to simply follow the yellow brick road? It’s not an easy journey, but it’s worth the trip.
I encourage you today as a neighbor and fellow citizen of our city, to take the journey with us. Dorthy didn’t travel alone, and neither can we. We all learn more, accomplish more, and grow more together. We are working hard to impact our community by doing today for tomorrow. Through your effort and influence the work we do today will leave a lasting legacy on generations to come. I would love to provide you with more information on how you can be involved and make a difference with For Tomorrow. You can reach out at bmatthews@alabasterfortomorrow.com. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.
